We are committed to continuous improvement in protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development. These goals are realised in our daily business operations in a range of ways, from reducing our environmental footprint in terms of CO2 consumption, minimising our paper and water usage, to ensuring social benefits for our employees. These efforts have been externally recognized by the Responsible Care programme.

VELOX supports 'Zinc Saves Kids'
VELOX and its partner U.S. Zinc support this international UNICEF programme. 'Zinc Saves Kids' is an initiative to improve the survival, growth and development prospects of undernourished children who could otherwise die. Diarrheal diseases, pneumonia and malaria may result from children's zinc deficiency in developing countries: these diseases lead to a very high death rate of more than 450.000 children per year. Zinc is an essential trace element for humans; especially in children it supports physical and neurological development, accelerates cell division and therefore supports the immune system. As an example: a dose of 20mg zinc per day over a period ranging from 10-14 days protects children from diarrheal diseases.

VELOX promotes the Environmental Partnership and the Climate Protection programmes of the City of Hamburg. Both work to implement climate and environmental protection measures as well as to save natural resources.

VELOX donates to Médecins sans Frontières
In 2011 VELOX committed to Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières) an international humanitarian aid organization that provides emergency medical assistance to populations in danger in more than 60 countries. As a company concerned about the environment, we see it as our duty to help people who are suffering, victims of natural disasters or victims of armed conflict. The donation will help MSF to carry on its humanitarian action by providing medicines, medical health care and aid to people whose survival is threatened.
