REACh is the European Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use (EC 1907/2006). It deals with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances. The law entered into force on 1st June 2007 and substantially reformed the European chemical legislation.
The objective of REACh is to harmonize European chemical laws, to screen and evaluate specific risks related to chemical products as well as to significantly improve the protection of people and the environment against any harm potentially arising from chemical substances.
The obligations established by REACh mainly concern manufacturers and importers who deal with chemical substances and chemical blends in quantities above 1 tonne within the European Union.
