Google’s January 2020 Core Update

Google announced on Monday, January 13, it was releasing the January 2020 Core Update. The update is already live and will be rolling out to their various data centers over the next few days. Core Updates are important to note, since they impact how Google ranks websites and how Google determines what is the most relevant web page for a specific query.

Why We Care

Whenever Google rolls out an update to its search ranking algorithms, it means that your site has the chance to do either better or worse in search rankings, which is important for a variety of reasons. Thankfully, Google has been announcing these updates in advance, giving us a chance to better prepare ourselves for potential fluctuations, and tells us if we need to make changes to our website’s content.
